DP30/C Cardioid TomMic™

The Drum Periscope™ High Definition Microphones™ are designed for close miking toms and snare drums, and will take a direct hit from a drumstick. A right angle mic head is mounted to the gooseneck for easy positioning. The Drum Periscope™ is mounted parallel to the drum shell with the RM1 RimMount™.

Drummers for major artists such as Steely Dan, Dream Theater, and Joe Satriani are thrilled with the improvement in their drum sound using Earthworks® High Definition Microphones™ for overheads. They asked if we could make High Definition Microphones™ for their snare and toms as well. For two years, we worked with these high profile drummers in developing and beta testing our new Drum Periscope™ tom and snare microphones. These new tom and snare mics sound spectacular and are designed to withstand the rigors of the road as well.

The Drum Periscope™ Series of microphones incorporates a stiff mini-gooseneck that will not move when the drums are hit hard. The microphone capsule housing is designed to protect the microphone capsule and withstand a direct hit from a drumstick. The electronics are housed in a cylindrical tube attached to the other end of the mini-gooseneck and provides a high level, low impedance output that will prevent radio frequency interference. The drum periscope is mounted to the drum rim with our RM1 drum RimMount™.

The Drum Periscope™ Series includes the DP25/C SnareMic™, which is ideal for miking snares, high hats or for use as drum overheads.

The Series also includes the DP30/C TomMic™, which is ideal for reproducing the rich low frequencies of toms while its fast impulse response will capture the full detail of the attack.

The Series also features Combo Kits for both the SnareMic™ and the TomMic™. The SMC1 is a High Definition Microphone™ Kit for one snare, which includes one DP25/C, RimMount™, LevelPad™, foam windscreen and carrying case.

The TMC1 is a High Definition Microphone™ Kit with one DP30/C, RimMount™, LevelPad™, foam windscreen and carrying case.
