Britannia Row Productions Choose Earthworks Microphones
February 4, 2010 – Britannia Row Productions has bought a number of Earthworks measurement microphones for themselves and for their touring engineers, a total of 8x M30, 3xM30MP matched pairs, and 1x M23 that will be the hub of their current touring systems.
Earthworks was formed in 1995 by David Blackmer, the brilliant inventor and founder of dbx™, where he invented new technologies in VCAs and true RMS detectors for companders and compressors. At Earthworks his passion focused on inventing new technologies for microphones, preamplifiers. These new advanced, patented technologies provide Earthworks with the ability to manufacture the “next generation” of professional audio products that will significantly outperform any other quality professional audio equipment on the market.
Earthworks founded their reputation on their omni range of recording and measurement microphones and pre-amps but over the years they have extended the range to cover all major applications, drums, grand piano, strings, brass, choir, guitars, vocals, podium, for both live and studio.
The ‘M’ for measurement series now includes 4 models, the M23, M30, M30BX battery powered, and the ultimate M50. The popular M30 model has a flat frequency from 5Hz-30kHz and the fastest impulse response in the world with exceptional polar characteristics, making it perfect for time alignment and referencing our professional touring systems when used with Smaart software and Dolby Lake processors.
“The mics are for our road computer packages for RTA analysis using Smaart, and the other mics were for our touring engineers who also wanted to use Earthworks. Over the years we have all used various measurement mics but it’s evident that Earthworks have become the standard for serious measurement work as they’re recommended by numerous measurement companies such as Smaart and they’re the best way to go for the future.”
